There has been plenty of speculation over the future of Neymar, but the Brazilian has made it clear he intends to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.

Over the last few weeks, it has been reported that PSG would be open to selling Neymar, with the club’s Qatari ownership frustrated by the player, and they would be willing to let him leave for the right offer.

Recently, it was also believed that there was uncertainty over his future because of the extension signed by Kylian Mbappe, as the Frenchman rejected Real Madrid’s advances in favour of staying in Paris.

Neymar joined the club in 2017 and has a contract with the club for a further three years – until 2025 – with an option to extend his stay for a further year.

In recent years, there were rumours of a move to Barcelona, but due to the club’s difficult financial situation a return to the Catalan club never materialized.

What has Neymar said about his PSG future?

Now, though, Neymar is adamant on staying and doing well at the club over the course of the next few years: “My ambition is always the same: to win every title possible,” Neymar said.

The 30-year-old added: "Play well and win the World Cup and the Champions League. These are my ambitions for next season. It has to be with Paris. I have a contract with PSG, so there is no choice. Yes, it will be with PSG."

Why would Neymar leaving PSG be impossible?

Even if PSG do decide to sell Neymar which has been reported, finding a buyer for the Brazilian would be difficult.

The forward, who still holds the world transfer record for his €222 million move to the French champions five years ago, is under contract for another three seasons and so PSG would want some kind of return on their investment. FootballTransfers vales Neymar at €68m.

Neymar has also been discussing his happiness over Mbappe’s extension, and is hoping to continue a strong relationship with the Frenchman, along with Lionel Messi, with whom he shared a dressing room in Barcelona too.

And given his huge salary, it is difficult to envision what other club would give Neymar the amount of downtime that PSG provide, as well as pay him in the region of €30m per year. So he could be in Paris for a while yet.
