Cristiano Ronaldo: Marseille legends pushing for unlikely transfer
Cristiano Ronaldo has made his desire to leave Manchester United clear, as he wishes to enjoy the final years of his career at a club where he can enjoy Champions League football.
As a result, several clubs have been linked with a move for the Portuguese forward, including French Ligue 1 side Marseille, with fans having big ambitions.
In recent weeks, several Marseille legends have chipped in as well, with some asking fans to be realistic, while others being open to the idea of Ronaldo playing at the Velodrome.
Many heroes from the past have invited the club to explore the possibility of signing Ronaldo, believing it would be great for the city and fans.
Marseille icons push for move
Former Arsenal star Samir Nasri has suggested Marseille as an option to
Ronaldo as well. “I have a solution for him. He can terminate his contract, they give him half his year and in Marseille they make an effort, they give him something and he comes to play in the Champions League.
He then added to it, believing that the 37-year-old would pair well with new signing Alexis Sanchez: "A Cristiano Ronaldo-Alexis Sanchez attack looks good."
Others such as Mamadou Niang wants to dream big, and believes that beyond the pitch, Ronaldo would thrill the fans and that the club can explore a deal for him: “We all have the right to dream! We are still talking about Cristiano Ronaldo.”
“We all remember Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s impact when he arrived at PSG reinvigorated the fans. Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival in Marseille would do the city good for the fans."

"Just for the fun, to thrill the fans and the city, you have to try it. These guys are self-financing. A guy like Ronaldo is not expensive, after all. The main shareholder has to ignites, that he finds an economic solution to find him a business in the United States."
Former World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit weighed in as well, believing that having two of the best players of all time in Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in Ligue 1 would do the national championship good.
“Dreaming is good. But reality is far from dreams at the moment, I see only two positive points in a possible arrival of Ronaldo at the OM: boost a region that is just waiting to live its passion to the full and once again bring together Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, the French championship would only be a winner.”
At the moment, it’s unlikely that Ronaldo joins Marseille, but given the window is still open, he still wants to leave and has been unable to fit into Erik ten Hag’s philosophies at Manchester United, things could change quickly.
