PSG admit interest in 'amazing' Rashford free transfer from Man Utd
Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has admitted the club are interested in signing Marcus Rashford if he leaves Manchester United on a free transfer this summer.
Rashford is entering the last six months of his contract at Old Trafford but United have an option to extend it for a further year, although the club are believed to be looking to sign him to a longer-term deal.
PSG reportedly made an enquiry for Rashford over the summer but United were unwilling to consider offers for the 25-year-old, however Al-Khelaifi has claimed the French side will look to make another move for the forward after the World Cup.
REAL MADRID, PSG OR MAN UTD?: Rashford has big transfer call to make
"He's another player that is really amazing," said Al-Khelaifi. "And for free? To have Rashford for free, every club would run after him, definitely.
"We're not hiding it, we spoke before and… interest. But the moment was not a good moment for both sides. Maybe, summer, why not?
"Today if he's a free agent of course we can talk to him directly but we are not going to talk to him now. Let him focus on the World Cup. Then after in January, hopefully, if we're interested we will talk to him."
Rashford to PSG?
Rashford has scored three goals for England at the World Cup and has rediscovered his best form after a disappointing campaign last year, leading to interest from PSG as well as Real Madrid.
HOW MUCH?: The price Man Utd would ask for Rashford
The United star has established himself as a regular starter under Erik ten Hag, having come off the bench for 12 of his 25 appearances last year, and has already matched his four Premier League goals in 2021/22.
Despite Al-Khelaifi’s admission, United are almost certainly not going to let Rashford depart on a free, although there is a chance they could take up the option in his contract and sell him on in the summer.
However, United are thought to have no interest in selling a player entering his prime that has come through the academy and who remains a fan favourite.
PSG are considering their striking options with Kylian Mbappe’s future uncertain and Lionel Messi out of contract in the summer, while Hugo Ekitike has failed to make an impact in his loan spell, leaving Neymar as the only other forward at the club
