The Ousmane Dembele saga is not quite over yet at Barcelona.

On Saturday the Catalans announced that Dembele had been sold to Paris Saint-Germain for a fee worth £43.5 million (€50.4m).

The exact circumstances of the deal, however, remain rather unclear.

Barca originally revealed on their official website that they had agreed the above fee for the France international, only to revise the statement minutes later.

"FC Barcelona and the player Ousmane Dembélé have severed ties by virtue of the unilateral exercise by the player of a right included in his employment contract," the club's altered announcement reads.

"The club, in strict compliance with the agreement, has not negotiated or agreed with third parties the terms of this severance."

According to Mundo Deportivo there are financial motives for Barca's rewording.

The Catalans understand that under the terms of the contract signed with Dembele last summer they are only obliged to give the player a percentage of the fee collected from PSG, with the rest landing in club coffers.

How much will Barca receive for Dembele?

The newspaper claims that Dembele will thus receive €15m in return for exercising his right to rescind his contract.

Agent Moussa Sissoko, however, will receive nothing, which unsurprisingly has caused some friction between him and the Blaugrana.

Sissoko and the rest of Dembele's management team are reportedly considering legal action over Barca's handling of the fee, meaning that the player will continue to cast a shadow over Camp Nou for the foreseeable future even after putting an end to his six-year stay.
