Zaire-Emery in SHOCK transfer link as France call nears
Warren Zaire-Emery’s prospects of becoming France’s youngest internationalist since the Second World War were boosted over the weekend as the PSG midfielder’s stratospheric rise continues.
In midweek, Thierry Henry claimed that Zaire-Emery’s ability to control a game aged just 17 is something that he has never seen before, even from Jude Bellingham, after the France U21 boss watched PSG dismantle AC Milan in the Champions League.
Luis Enrique’s side were not quite so fluent in Ligue 1 as they struggled to achieve a 3-2 victory over Brest thanks to a late strike from Kylian Mbappe, but once again the performance of Zaire-Emery caught the eye, with the physicality of the midfielder standing out.
Didier Deschamps has hinted that the teenager is in his thoughts for international honours ahead of games against Gibraltar and Greece next month in Euro 2024 qualifying, and these back-to-back displays will only have reinforced that.
But there has been a twist from elsewhere, too. The next that Aurelien Tchouameni will miss several weeks because of a broken foot has opened the door for Zaire-Emery to claim a spot in the team.
Any headaches that Dechamps might have been having over who to drop are certainly gone.
Zaire-Emery to Dortmund?
Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Zaire-Emery, according to Calciomercato.
The player is entering the last 18 months of his contract at PSG and the Italian source claims that the Bundesliga side are hopeful of taking advantage of this situation.
It is difficult to imagine, though, a scenario in which Zaire-Emery does not sign a new deal at Parc des Princes given his status as a starting player as well as the platform the club is giving him to perform at the highest level.
Manchester City have also been linked with the midfielder, who is the youngest player ever to turn out with PSG.
FootballTransfers has previously revealed that Zaire-Emery is already in contract talks with the French champions.
