The French club are open to selling Argentine amid interest from the Premier League and other nations, sources have informed us, with an asking price of €25million attached to his name.

Medina has been a key player in Lens' rise in French football since his arrival from Talleres in the summer of 2020. His performances on the pitch, particularly this season, have made him a standout figure in the squad. The 24-year-old has featured in 104 matches for his side across four campaigns so far.

Football Transfers’ algorithm values the defender at €22.4million, while he is also able to play at left-back. Medina scored his first goal for Lens in their 4-0 win vs. Nantes last week, having been involved in the entire build-up to the goal as Lens ran out 4-0 winners.

Last season it was reported that Brighton had an ambition to bring in the ball-playing centre-back. FootballTransfers understands that the player has had several meetings ahead of a football but there are no proposals on the table for him.

Medina recently signed a contract extension until 2026 but Lens are still ready to listen to others for him.

Medina helped Franck Haise’s men to a superb season in 2022/23, where they missed out on the title to Paris Saint-Germain by a single point.

Medina on his journey to the top

Last season in interview with L’Equipe, he spoke about his football career so far.

He said: “I had a crazy childhood. It was a little difficult but I always tried to bring out the positive things and I always felt the support of my family. I didn’t understand what the world was. And as we grow, we look and we begin to ask ourselves questions. Why do I have to go through this destitution? Why do I have to be hungry?

"Why do I have to go out to work twenty-four hours a day to have food, not even to have things I want? My family was able to protect me, we fought, we fought. And one day, when you finally have a bit more, it allows you to place a lot more value on simple things, like a dish of food. If today you offer me an alfajor (round cookie often filled with milk jam), I am the happiest man in the world. Because I measure your effort, your time. People might say, “It’s a simple alfajor,” but that says something about the person you are.”
