Real Madrid will pay Kylian Mbappe HALF of what he is currently earning for his PSG salary.

That is according to Julien Laurens, who reports that Mbappe is set to make a huge loss on his salary when he joins Madrid this summer.

Mbappe earns €72 million per season at PSG, but Laurens reports that he will be paid half of this in Spain.

Laurens has confirmed widespread reports on Saturday that Mbappe to Real Madrid is a done deal.

The attacker will join Madrid on a free transfer when his contract at PSG expires at the end of the season. Mbappe has made the decision with his family to join Real Madrid and the transfer is expected to be officially confirmed next week before the Champions League last-16 gets under way.

This salary at Madrid is also well short of what he would have earned if he had signed for the club in 2022.

Mbappe was offered a salary of €50m, as well as a signing-on bonus of over €100m in order to sign for Madrid in 2022.

In comparison, this time around Mbappe will earn relative 'peanuts'!

Last summer Mbappe came to an agreement with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to waive more than €100m in loyalty bonuses.

In exchange for that, PSG agreed for Mbappe to return to playing with the team for this final season.

Mbappe’s summer of discontent

Last summer, Mbappe told PSG that he didn’t intend to trigger the option in his current contract - which expires in 2024 - of extending by a further year.

Mbappe notified PSG in a written letter that he planned to see out the final year of his PSG contract and would not leave in 2023.

This infuriated PSG, and Mbappe was frozen out of the squad during the summer and at the start of the current season, and made to train with transfer listed players.

PSG made it clear that unless he left before the end of the summer window for a big fee or sign a new contract, he would remain frozen out of the squad.

Eventually an agreement was reached for the attacker to be reintegrated into the squad.

It now seems he will finally make his move to Madrid.

Mbappe’s favourite club as a child was Real Madrid.
