Jordan Henderson breaks Ajax PROMISE to force shock Champions League move
Jordan Henderson is set to leave Ajax fuming, with the England international midfielder now setting his sights on a transfer to Monaco.
The former Liverpool star has been linked with a move to the Ligue 1 giants for several days, but De Telegraaf indicated on Thursday that he had promised the Eredivisie side that he would remain with them until the end of the season.
It appears that he has had a change of heart, with L’Equipe stating that Henderson is now pushing to sign for Adi Hutter’s side.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that the 34-year-old was heading to Monaco, where he would sign an 18-month contract with the side that will face Benfica in the knockout phase of the Champions League.
Shortly afterwards, Mike Verweij reported on behalf of De Telegraaf that the Englishman was not allowed to leave Ajax. The 34-year-old right-footer then tried to force a departure by threatening that he would no longer play for Ajax if the club management did not cooperate over his transfer to the Monegasques.

Before the Europa League match against Galatasaray (a 2-1 win) he decided to give the captain's armband to Remko Pasveer, he did not cheer his team-mates' goals and after 75 minutes he seemed to bid the crowd farewell when he was substituted.
Later, Henderson expressed regret after a conversation with Ajax technical director Alex Kroes. The 81-cap England international promised to finish the season in Amsterdam and stressed that he wanted to win prizes with Ajax.
Head coach Francesco Farioli addressed the soap opera surrounding the player during the press conference on Friday in the run-up to the match against Feyenoord.
“Jordan is under contract with this club. The situation surrounding the captain’s armband has attracted attention, but Jordan is fully focused on Ajax. He is under contract with us,” said the coach. “I spoke to him briefly. Will he be the captain against Feyenoord on Sunday? I think so.”

Henderson changes his mind again
Henderson has now turned 180 degrees, according to L'Equipe, and wants to make the move to Monaco after all. According to the French sports newspaper, Ajax has even set an asking price for the veteran: the Amsterdam club is asking for 2 million.
Henderson is contracted to Ajax until the summer of 2026 after he arrived on a free transfer from Saudi Al-Ettifaq a year ago.
The coming hours will be crucial: if Monaco cannot reach an agreement with Ajax rapdily, the club will move on and Henderson’s dream will be dashed.
