Wojciech Szczesny has denied reports that he is leaving Juventus this summer in order to be replaced by Gigi Donnarumma.

Donnarumma will leave AC Milan at the end of the month when his contract expires after the club refused to meet the excessive financial demands of the goalkeeper’s agent Mino Raiola.

The 22-year-old is being targeted by a number of Europe’s biggest clubs – including Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona – but it is Juventus who are considered favourites for his signature.

However, FootballTransfers understands that, while Juve are keen to sign Donnarumma, they are unable to unless they offload current number one Szczesny.

Will Szczesny leave Juventus?

The Polish shot-stopper has a contract worth €6.5 million a year running until 2024 and Juve already need to cut costs.

But Szczesny has attempted to put an end to transfer talk ahead of Euro 2020 by insisting that there has been no contact from anyone about a departure from Juve.

“I know that this has been in the media for a while, so I will try to answer this question once and for all,” the 31-year-old said in a press conference.

“I have not spoken to Juventus or any other club, because there is nothing to discuss about a departure.

“I am not responsible for Juventus’ transfer strategy.”

Szczesny's Juventus career

Szczesny has spent four years in Turin, with the last three of those as the club’s number one.

He has made 137 appearances for the Bianconeri, winning three Scudetti, two Italian Cups and two Italian Super Cups.

He has been linked with a return to former clubs Roma and Arsenal, but he is insistent that he is going nowhere as it stands.

Szczesny will be in action for Poland at Euro 2020 where he will face Spain, Sweden and Slovakia in Group E.
