Why Dybala is further than ever from Arsenal and Spurs transfer as Inter close in
Paulo Dybala looks increasingly likely to stay in Serie A, with the Juventus attacker poised to reject the chance to move to Arsenal or Tottenham and instead transfer to Inter.
Dybala is out of contract this summer, and though he initially agreed a deal with Juve, it was withdrawn by the Turin club to allow them to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January.
REVEALED: The transfer values of football’s biggest stars
Fresh terms have not been agreed and Dybala is set for free agency at the end of June, at which point he is likely to reject the opportunity to move to England.
FootballTransfers reported in April that Inter was the 28-year-old’s most likely destination, with the Nerazzurri set to offer the Argentina star a four-year contract worth in the region of €7-8 million per year.
These links have been strengthened recently, with reports in Italy stating that Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is one of the major reasons why Dybala favours a switch to Inter. Marotta was the man who took him from Palermo to Juventus in 2015 for a fee of €41 million.
Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla has confirmed: “Dybala hasn’t waited for Inter or any other club. But AT THE MOMENT it’s just Inter. It’s different, today he has a preference. He can get closer to them as things progress.”
Clearly, this spells bad new for Arsenal and Tottenham’s hopes of capturing Dybala and will likely see them turn to offensive alternatives elsewhere. Chelsea had also been briefly linked with the player, but the uncertainty over their ownership means that any deal is likely impossible.
Dybala has enjoyed a decent season in a struggling Juventus side, scoring nine goals and creating five in 26 Serie A outings, while he has 114 goals all time for the Turin outfit in close to 300 appearances in all competitions.
