Hakim Ziyech: Blow for Chelsea as Milan interest cools
Milan have been in negotiations with Chelsea over a loan move for winger Hakim Ziyech, but the slow pace of the deal has been a source of frustration for the player.
The Moroccan has been out of favour at Chelsea, having rarely featured under Thomas Tuchel, and the club are willing to move him on this summer.
Italian champions Milan have been in contact and were eager to bring him over to the San Siro this summer, but that interest has cooled in recent days.
Milan were interested in a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of it, but Chelsea want to make it an obligation to buy, as they are looking to offload the player permanently in due course.
Milan want Chelsea to budge on terms
The Serie A side don’t want the obligation, as they’ve already spent big this summer to sign Belgian attacker Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge last month.
Ziyech was only seen as an option under the right conditions, which Milan feel aren’t there, and as a result, their interest has reduced in the last few days.
Milan were hoping that Chelsea would reduce their demands as they wish to let go of the player anyways, but the Blues aren’t budging on the obligation to buy at the end of the loan spell.

Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax in 2020 for a €40 million fee, and has made 83 appearances for them across all competitions in that period, scoring 14 goals.
He was also part of the side that won the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel in 2020 as well as other trophies such as the Club World Cup and Super Cup.
The season started off on a poor note for Ziyech, as he was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Everton, adding further proof that he’s not a big part of Tuchel’s plans in the 2022-23 campaign.
Other than Milan, there has also reportedly been interest from Manchester United, where former boss Erik ten Hag is manager, but a move doesn’t seem to be close.
