Inter Milan fans have been sent into a frenzy by rumours that Donald Trump could sensationally make a takeover attempt for the Serie A giants.

Trump’s attorney Joe Tacopina jokingly revealed what it would take for the former United States president to buy Inter Milan.

Tacopina, the president of Italian Serie B side SPAL, joked about how he could convince Trump to buy Inter.

“If I challenged him and said ‘you will never win anything with Inter’, he would then probably buy Inter to prove to me I was wrong!,” Tacopina told The Italian Football Podcast.

“He likes soccer a little bit. Golf is much more his passion. He’s not an avid Calcio fan but he understands and likes sports.

“We have had some discussions about SPAL. He knows I am here. He called me the other day when I was in the stadium.

“He called me right after we scored a goal. We have scored like four goals all year, so God forbid I get to enjoy one of our goals for more than 35 seconds! But that’s okay, that’s par for the course when you are representing someone like the president.”

Inter are available for sale as their Chinese owners Suning are in serious financial difficulty.

Suning are asking for around €1 billion to sell the club.

Tacopina’s comments sent Inter fans wild on social media about the - admittedly highly unlikely - prospect of Trump buying Inter.
