Pogba humiliated by Juventus legend
Paul Pogba has been criticised by a former Juventus star who claims the midfielder needs to show more professionalism after being dropped from the team for disciplinary reasons.
Pogba has endured a difficult time since rejoining Juve on a free last summer after his contract at Manchester United ran out, only making his debut last month following an injury-plagued season.
The 29-year-old has played just 35 minutes so far this campaign and was left out of Juventus’ squad for their Europa League tie against Freiburg after turning up late to training.
OPINION: 'Graeme Souness was right about Pogba!'
Ex-Juve midfielder Angelo di Livio praised manager Max Allegri for his handling of the situation and claimed that Pogba should show more commitment after being injured for so long.
Di Livio said: “Allegri did very well to treat him in this way. I did not expect such a delay from a player who has never played. I think we need more professionalism in this kind of situation”.
“If I were a player that everyone has been waiting for for months, I would go on the pitch an hour and a half before the summons!”
Pogba ‘a big problem’ for Juve
Pogba has endured criticism over his professionalism throughout his career and the Frenchman was called out earlier in the season for posting a video of him skiing despite being out injured.
Another former Juve star, Marco Tardelli, had commented over Pogba’s ski trip, claiming the ex-United man was ‘a big problem’ for the club.
THE RETURN: Pogba shines on Juve comeback
'Pogba goes skiing while his team-mates are struggling with the big problems of Juve,” Tardelli said. “Today Pogba is a big problem that the Bianconeri must solve. This situation also demonstrates that Juve do not have clear enough ideas.”
Pogba missed the 2022 World Cup with a knee injury he picked up in pre-season and his return was delayed after he refused to have surgery in the hopes of playing in Qatar, although he eventually went under the knife.
