Jose Mourinho could quickly find himself back in the dugout after being sacked by Roma.

Mourinho’s dismissal from the Serie A side has sparked anger among their fans, who have protested against the board, but after the Portuguese bid a tearful goodbye from the Italian capital, clubs have already been lining up to take advantage of his talents.

While the 60-year-old is said to be interested in a return to Chelsea for a third spell, he has also been linked with roles in Portugal, but the Saudi Pro League is now looking like a potential destination.

According to Matteo Moretto: “Al-Shabab is looking for a coach and, according to reports, in the last few hours they have contacted Jose Mourinho.

“There is openness on the part of the Portuguese coach, who is seriously considering the idea.

“Negotiations underway between the parties.”

Al-Shabab are presently 11th in the Saudi Pro League, just four points clear of the relegation zone, having won only five matches this season.

Their most recognisable players are former Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco and Ever Banega, who turned out for Valencia and Argentina.

Mourinho sacking angers Roma fans

The shockwaves of Mourinho’s absence are still being felt by Roma, where angry supporters have blamed the coach’s demise on the players.

A banner brandishing the words “Ghost club, players without balls, honour to you, Jose Mourinho” has been displayed over a motorway in the Italian capital, hitting out at the American ownership of the club.

This is not necessarily felt by the players, with Chris Smalling sending a dismissive message to Mou following his sacking.

Roma have lost four of their last seven matches in all competitions and find themselves ninth in the Serie A standings. Just five points behind Fiorentina in fourth, though, Champions League qualification for next season is not out of sight.
