A swarm of Premier League clubs are considering making a move for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and, in particular, Liverpool have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old in recent weeks.

Fichajes reports on Wednesday that all of these teams are in the market for a winger in the summer.

Arsenal need an alternative to the over-played Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Chelsea are unhappy with the form of Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk and want an upgrade. Newcastle are still yet to replace Allan Saint-Maximin, who they sold last summer, while Liverpool may sell Mohamed Salah to Saudi Arabia and will need a top-class replacement.

And these teams know they have a good chance of signing Chiesa.

There are a number of reasons for this.

The biggest reason is that Chiesa’s contract expires in 2025, and contract talks are not going well.

Juventus are unwilling to match Chiesa’s demands of €7 million per season due to his constant injuries. He missed most of 2022 with an ACL injury and has suffered 10 different physical problems in just over a year after returning.

Chiesa has yet to return to the levels that saw him exploded as one of Europe’s best wingers at Euro 2020, and this is another reason Juventus are reluctant to give him a big contract.

Chiesa has scored just seven goals and provided one assist in Serie A this season from 24 games.

From Chiesa’s point of view, the player may not even agree to sign a new contract even if he is offered what he requests.

The Italian is very unhappy playing under manager Max Allegri, who has been deploying Chiesa in a position he detests.

Chiesa sees himself as a winger but Allegri has been playing him as a central attacker in a 3-5-2 for the last two seasons.

The ex-Fiorentina man does not want to play another season as a central attacker and will ask to leave if these are the plans for 2024-25.

The future of Allegri is also related to Chiesa’s future.

Chiesa also does not want to play another season under Allegri, whose contract expires in 2025 as well.

There is a good chance Allegri will leave at the end of the season, which in turn will strengthen the chances of Chiesa staying at Juventus.

Whatever happens in this regard, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Liverpool know that they have a good chance of signing Chiesa this summer.
