Manchester United are in talks with Napoli over a deal to land Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but face significant competition from PSG, while the Italian side are set to strike a deal that will change everything for Ruben Amorim’s transfer plans.

Man Utd are offering “significant competition” for PSG, with “concrete contact” in both directions, according to L’Equipe, which indicates that Kvaratskhelia is the Parisians’ No.1 target in the window.

“Contacts are constant and influential intermediaries on the market have been trying to find a solution for several days to see if the deal can move forward concretely,” it states.

“There is a huge difference compared to recent months: Napoli’s leaders are not averse to the sale of the 23-year-old.”

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed PSG’s interest in the long-time Man Utd target.

“PSG and Napoli are in direct contact… as PSG step up efforts to make it happen now, open to offering players (including Skriniar) plus cash in the deal,” he tweeted. “It now depends on Napoli’s decision.”

The Parc des Princes side previously chased the Georgia international in the summer but were put off by his €100 million price tag.

Napoli, meanwhile, were bullish over being able to renew his contract but there has been no movement on that front. The door is open for both Man Utd and PSG to swoop, with both clubs capable of offering the 23-year-old a far bigger salary than he could earn with the Serie A outfit.

Napoli set to close out Dorgu deal

Man Utd are poised to miss out on Patrick Dorgu, with the Lecce left-back set to move to Napoli.

Dorgu had been quoted as a potential target for Amorim, who wants to strengthen the left of his defence.

Napoli have an agreement in place with Lecce to complete a move for the 20-year-old, who had also been linked with Tottenham and Chelsea lately, CN24 reports.

Clearly, this changes the direction of United’s transfer plans in the left-back area – but it’s not all bad news.

In a more positive development for Man Utd, TBR Football reports that Nuno Mendes, who is considered their dream target in that area, has told PSG that he wants to hook up with Amorim at Old Trafford.
