Fabregas' reputation has risen quickly, and now BILD have reported that VfB Stuttgart are eyeing Fabregas as their choice to take over as manager in the summer, should current boss Sebastian Hoeness leave the club.

Fabregas joined Como as a player in 2022 for the last season of his career, retiring in 2023 before becoming a youth coach with Como. He then took temporary charge for five games before learning as an assistant to Osian Roberts until the end of 2023/24 when he took full-time charge.

After years of playing beautiful and intelligent football with Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea (not to mention the Spanish national team) it should come as no surprise that Fabregas, a disciple of Pep Guardiola, Arsene Wenger and José Mourinho, has got some managerial chops.

Hoeness has been linked wth roles such as Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, both of whom may change managers this summer (for entirely different reasons, however) and are impressed with the speed Hoeness has turned Stuttgart around in.

Sebastian Hoeness: a coach on the rise

Hoeness has been in charge of Stuttgart since 2023. He took over with the side bottom of the table and guided them into the relegation play-offs.

Surviving the play-offs, Hoeness then had Stuttgart playing so well they finished second in the Bundesliga behind only the miraculous Bayer Leverkusen side. This was their highest finish since 2007 and ensured their participation in the Champions League.

Hoeness' star is rising fast and OneFootball.com reports that Hoeness also has a very low release clause in his contract, meaning that in 2025 a side outside the Bundesliga could secure his services for €5-6 million, which is peanuts for someone of his talents.
