FootballTransfers has been told by sources close to the deal that a formal bid has been placed by Juve and that negotiations to strike a transfer agreement are firmly underway.

The Serie A giants face competition from Brentford and Napoli for the midfielder, who has scored 13 goals in 35 appearances for Shakhtar this season, including a couple during their Champions League campaign.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been linked with the 22-year-old over the course of the last 18 months, and after another blistering campaign, he is finally poised to make his big move.

Sudakov has a release clause in his Shakhtar contract worth €150 million but the Donetsk outfit are believed to be starting a fee around the €40m mark. For the moment, it is unclear how much the Bianconeri have offered for the rapidly rising Ukraine international star.

Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is driving Juventus’ bid for Sudakov, having been impressed with his style of play. Juventus have been a team lacking attacking spark this season and it is believed that the Shakhtar star can provide them with some of the offensive punch they have been lacking in Serie A, in which they have scored fewer goals than any other top-six side.

Shakhtar confirm Sudakov transfer talks

Shakhtar CEO Sergiy Palkin has previously confirmed that talks are taking place, though he did not mention any club by name. Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: "We are now in negotiations. I can't announce amounts but I believe we will close this deal, and on good financial terms.

"If will don't finalise a deal with this current club, there will be another one. I am not worried about doing a deal for Sudakov. He's one of the best in the world in his position.

"He can move to Italy or England. We have contacts. We have interest in him. It was the same with Mykhailo Mudryk. If he's not sold 'today', it will happen 'tomorrow'. It's just a matter of time."

Sudakov vs Premier Liga midfielders: Overall performance (2024/25)

-+ Georgiy Sudakov

Sudakov has been one of the outstanding midfielders in Ukraine this season, according to data analytics experts SciSports.

In particular, SciSports points out the technical qualities that make the youngster such an exciting prospect: his passing, dribbling and finishing. But Sudakov also rates as the best central midfielder in terms of offensive positioning, highlighting his strong tactical understanding of the game.

Inspired by all of this, Juventus have made the first move.
