Shakira RUINS Sergio Ramos dream

Real Madrid icon Sergio Ramos’ hopes of landing a major continental title in North America have been ruined by pop legend Shakira.
Sergio Ramos moved to Monterrey at the beginning of the year and has made a promising start personally with the struggling Liga MX outfit.

The first major challenge of the 38-year-old with his new side was a Concacaf Champions League last-16 clash against Vancouver Whitecaps.
Last week, the clubs drew 1-1 in Canada but for the return leg, Monterrey were forced out of their home ground by a concert that was held by Shakira on March 12.
This may just have been the decisive factor. Although Monterrey dominated the game, they were only able to secure a 2-2 draw, crashing out of the competition on the away goals rule.
Sergio Ramos did get on the scoresheet – his third goal in four games for his new club – but his 97th minute penalty came too late to have a decisive impact on the tie.

Sergio Ramos and Shakira: No love lost?
Shakira is unlikely to feel too guilty about her part in the demise of the Real Madrid hero.
As the former wife of Barcelona star Gerard Pique, the Colombian pop star was a regular in the stands of Camp Nou and took in her share of Clasico encounters, which at that point were particularly tense affairs.
Sergio Ramos was a chief antagonist in these encounters, with the centre-back often a pantomime villain for Los Blancos. Similarly, Shakira’s former husband was not shy about winding the Real Madrid players up.
Now Sergio Ramos is in what might by the final challenge of his career with Monterrey, where he is under contract until December 31.
With the Liga MX giants under fire from their fans due to the poor performance of an expensively assembled side, this could be the veteran performer’s first and last taste of Concacaf Champions League football.
