Eredivisie giants block transfer for €100m Arsenal and Real Madrid target

Feyenoord have reportedly blocked a move away for Mexican forward Santiago Gimenez as they look to retain the Eredivisie title.
The Rotterdam-based side won the 2022-23 Dutch top flight by a comfortable seven-point margin, but are facing an uphill battle to retain the title due to PSV’s flying start.
PSV have won all 12 of their league games so far this season and sit seven points clear of Feyenoord, who have picked up 29 points from the opening 12 matches.
They are also third in their Champions League group, although they can still finish top of Group E if results go their way.
As a result, Feyenoord are set to ‘rebuff any January advances’ for Gimenez, according to The Mirror, via TEAMtalk.
Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Tottenham and Chelsea have all been linked with a move for Gimenez, while West Ham United are also said to be in the race.
Despite links with Stamford Bridge, however, Gimenez is extremely unlikely to join Chelsea, with the Blues focusing on other names, as per Fabrizio Romano. Both Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen are seen as viable targets as they look to sign a proven goal-scorer to aid their push to finish inside the top four.
How much will Santiago Gimenez cost?
While Romano has revealed that a €45 million fee may be enough for Gimenez, if Feyenoord eventually decide to sell, 90min have stated that an Eredivisie record will be needed.
That currently belongs to Antony, thanks to his €95m move to Manchester United in 2022, meaning a fee of around €100m will be needed to sign Gimenez, according to their sources.
Either way, a January move has reportedly been blocked as Feyenoord aim to keep hold of the Mexico star.
Gimenez currently has 15 goals and three assists in 15 games so far this season, with two goals in his two Champions League appearances.
