Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce have been linked with a series of big moves in the January transfer window.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, Mourinho wants to bring in some heavyweight talent (including some of his former players) to Istanbul in order to try and close the gap between his side and league-leaders Galatasaray.

Chief among those is Spurs superstar and captain Heung-min Son as well as Roma's Nicola Zalewski. Also on the list is Mourinho's compatriot Joao Felix, now of Chelsea.

Heung-min Son is, of course, a true hero at Spurs with 169 goals and 90 assists in 429 appearances for the North London club.

Ordinarily you'd expect Son to be untransferable, given his legendary status, but his contract is due to expire this summer in 2025 which complicates matters.

Son joined Spurs in 2015 and so this coming summer would make it a decade in North London. At 30 years-old the Korean captain may be interested in a new challenge, especially as he has yet to win a trophy with the club despite many close calls.

A problem for Fenerbahce is that Spurs have the ability to extend Son's contract by a year until 2026. So Mourinho would have to work some of his famous magic in order to secure the South Korean for his side.

Zalewski and Joao Felix: more realistic options

More attainable is Roma's Nicola Zalewski, a full-back who was a regular for Mourinho during his time in the Italian capital.

Gazzetta reports that the Italian-born Polish international would be available for around €5 million, a reasonable fee that Fenerbahce could afford.

There's also Joao Felix, who is as talented as almost anyone in Europe but find himself a barely used squad player for Chelsea.

Joao Felix's problem was neatly explained by his head coach. "He plays in the same position as [Cole] Palmer, it's a question of balance," said Enzo Maresca, adding: "I feel sorry for Joao."

With Joao Felix being a bench warmer, Mourinho could lure him to Istanbul with the promise of regular game time and of course an army of loyal, fanatical fans.
