The deal under consideration also includes an option for The Pilgrims to make the transfer permanent from Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia.

Loizou is liked by Plymouth's recruitment as they seek to bolster their options on the wing, though the player is also attracting interest from rival clubs in Europe, we understand. The loan deal, if finalised, will provide the Championship side the option to make the move permanent in the summer, though the precise figure has not been disclosed.

Loizou plays predominantly as a right-winger but can also be used on the opposite flank and as a No.10. He has nine goal contributions in 22 games for Omonia this term across all competitions.

Plymouth earn point against Terriers

It comes after Plymouth’s game against Huddersfield Town where Ian Foster made his debut league match in charge of the south coast side.

Morgan Whittaker, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess with seven goals in as many games for the Pilgrims, saw his effort countered by Josh Koroma before halftime. The second half saw both sides unable to break the deadlock.

Plymouth, still searching for their first away win this campaign, now find themselves in 19th place on the table. Meanwhile, Huddersfield maintains their position just one place above the relegation zone, holding a four-point cushion in 21st place.

Plymouth head coach Ian Foster said to BBC Radio Devon after the contest: "I'm pleased with the attitude and application of the boys, we gave them a lot of information in the week. They showed incredible resilience and didn't let their heads drop after the goal.

"We've got to try and build a foundation away from home and build a balance where we are difficult to break down but capable of being an attacking threat.

"We're pleased with the manner of the goal we scored and how we started the game, but we're disappointed with the manner of the goal we conceded. Having looked back at it, we think it's a foul.

"At time we had to suffer, but we suffered together, and I think the fans recognised that. They were a big part in helping us get across the line."
