Hulk announces departure from Chinese Super League side

Former Zenit and Brazilian forward Hulk declared he was leaving Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG right after the club were eliminated from the Asian Champions League on Monday.
Hulk joined the Chinese club in 2016 for a reported fee of £45 million and went on to win the Chinese Super League in 2018 and the Chinese FA Super Cup in 2019.
Yet, following the conclusion of his team’s season, Hulk declared on his Instagram account that he was leaving the club after achieving all he had in Chinese football.

“In these more than four years I am very grateful to the fans who welcomed me very well,” said the 34-year-old striker. “To the board and players, my thanks for sharing so many years of work and dedication.
“Together we had countless achievements such as the Super League and the Super Cup, but we also had moments of overcoming where we trusted each other, with great unity and the will to win.
“As I have always done in my career, I leave many friends.”
In 135 games for the Chinese club, Hulk scored an impressive 76 goals and 54 assists but at the age of 34 will surely now be looking to return to European football or back to Brazil.
Whether the former Brazilian international can be enticed into moving to one of Europe’s bigger leagues, such as La Liga or the Premier League remains to be seen.
