Jadon Sancho is suffering from bad luck at Manchester United, not a lack of form, insists team-mate, Luke Shaw.

After a protracted transfer saga that lasted over a year, Man Utd finally completed the signing of Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £73 million (€85m).

In the two seasons before making the move he was sensational for Dortmund, scoring 36 goals and recording 38 assists in 70 starts in all competitions.

However, he is yet to find that kind of form at Man Utd so far and has been in and out of the team.

Sancho has made five starts and made nine appearances overall in 2020/21 but doesn't have a single goal or assist to his name.

The criticism aimed at the young winger has been plentiful, but against Everton last weekend he showed glimpses of what he can do with a couple of fantastic pieces of skill down the left-hand side.

That was before he passed up a great chance with a weak attempt straight down the throat of Jordan Pickford, though.

Sancho has received some support from Shaw, who has hailed his "incredible" talents.

Shaw backs Sancho to succeed

“Sometimes, for people, it takes time,” Shaw told talkSPORT.

“I wouldn’t say struggle because I don’t think he’s struggling at the moment. He’s working extremely hard behind closed doors.

“He’s training really well and looking really sharp. He just hasn’t had that bit of luck that sometimes you need for your first goal or first assist. But I’ve got no doubt in my mind, it’s coming.

“The talent he has is unbelievable, he can go right to the very top.

"It’s just about him staying focused, keep doing what he’s doing in training and working hard. His time will come.”

Sancho and Shaw are both on international duty with England and could feature in Saturday's World Cup Qualifier against Andorra.
