Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has revealed that interest from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea 'doesn't matter' to him right now.

The Frenchman, who only joined Monaco in 2020, was the subject of transfer links all summer, with Man Utd and Chelsea reported to be the frontrunners for his signature.

A move never materialised, however, and Tchouameni is still a Monaco player.

The midfielder, who started for France in their UEFA Nations League triumph, is only 21 years old, but has been touted for a big move away.

His recent involvement with the French senior set-up will have done those rumours no harm, while he has received high praise from the likes of Cesc Fabregas, his teammate at club level.

Interest from Chelsea, Man Utd and even Real Madrid, before they landed his compatriot Eduardo Camavinga, peaked this summer as all three looked to strengthen their midfield.

But, Tchouameni has revealed he's remained calm throughout and is simply concentrating on performing on the pitch.

What has Tchouameni said?

He told L'Equipe: "My father called me, we talked about everything and he told me that I was on the front page of Marca. I went on Twitter and saw for myself.

"I told him it was cool, but what does it actually matter? It doesn’t. The front page of Marca will not define me or allow me to perform well in matches.

"It’s not real life, but it is the media world, the football business. They talk about me today but tomorrow, they’ll be talking about another.

"In the dressing room, they put the cover up and laughed’ ‘Oh, you’re leaving us already?’

"It’s flattering, but I don’t wake up in the morning thinking about it."

Transfer rumours aren't exactly a new phenomenon for Tchouameni, who also added that his time at Bordeaux was also filled with constant exit links - "When I started in Bordeaux, the media were already wondering every summer if Aurelien Tchouameni was going to move to a bigger club.

"In 2018, they were already talking about Juventus or Milan," he said.

"I know for a fact that what is true in October is not necessarily what’s true in June. If I start to think that I’m going to leave, it will show directly in my performances on the pitch."

Tchouameni's contract at Monaco doesn't expire until 2024, which does give the club some negotiation power, although it seems as though the biggest clubs in Europe will be interested in their midfielder; even if he won't be paying attention to the links, Monaco will be.
