Mohamed Salah may be winning the plaudits for Liverpool at present due to his outstanding goalscoring record this season, but Premier League legend Thierry Henry has picked a player who helps elevate the performances of the Reds to another level.

The Reds hold third place in the Premier League after a seamless 4-1 win over Everton on Wednesday, in which Salah scored twice.

The Egypt star may have impressed former Arsenal star Henry, but he also picked out another Liverpool man deserving of praise.

Jordan Henderson opened the scoring at Goodison Park and is worthy of more praise, according to the ex-France star.

“He reminds me of Gareth Barry or James Milner,” he told Amazon Prime. “I remember when he started out, I didn’t think he’d be the player he is.

I know not many people will mention it, but he's the guy you can try to copy

“You can't all be Mo Salah, you can't all can be Lionel Messi, but if you work hard, work ethically and your spirit is in it and you are professional, you can become Jordan Henderson and be the guy who lifts the trophy.

“Obviously, for a long time, Liverpool waited for that Premier League trophy - that was him. When Liverpool won the Champions League - he lifted it.

“I know not many people will mention it, but he's the guy you can try to copy.”

Liverpool 'on another planet' - Henry

Meanwhile, Henry says that Liverpool, along with Chelsea and Manchester City, are the three outstanding teams in the Premier League.

“They’re on another planet – not just Liverpool but Chelsea and Man City too,” he explained. “They scored four against Arsenal, four against Southampton, four on Wednesday. They play at Wolves on Saturday and can already put four on the scoreboard.

“The intensity they have with and without the ball, the pressure they produce at the end of the game playing with intensity is incredible.”

Liverpool are unlikely to do much business in the January transfer window, though the target will be to tie down Salah to a new contract with his deal set to expire in 2023.
