The agent of Manchester United star Paul Pogba has explained why Bayern Munich wouldn’t be able to sign the midfielder next season.

The French international is set to enter the final six months of his contract at Old Trafford in January and as a result will be able to consider offers from other clubs around Europe.

However, Pogba is already one of the highest paid players in the Premier League and outside of a handful of players across the continent, it remains unlikely that he’ll be able to find a higher paid player elsewhere in Europe.

As such, if Pogba was to make a move elsewhere at the end of the season, he may have to consider a drop in pay rather than sign a new deal with Man Utd.

It’s with that in mind that the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, was quick to rule out a move to Bayern Munich, due to the club’s stringent rules on their salary bill and how much they pay their star players.

“That is not possible because the German mentality is different. They cannot and do not want to pay these high salaries,” said Raiola in an interview with Sport1, when asked about a move to the Bundesliga.

“The only German club that could do that is Bayern Munich. But even they can't get to Paul's salary. Germans are at the bottom of the international salary pyramid.”

When asked if the Bundesliga’s financial limitations hold it back, Raiola added: “I don't think so. As a result, German football is very healthy. You are doing well.

“The 50+1 rule is sacred to Germans. You don't take any chances and I think that's a good thing.”

How much does Pogba make at Man Utd?

According to SportRac and Salary Sport, Pogba makes roughly £15.08 million per year at Manchester United.

The player has since been eclipsed as Man Utd’s highest-paid player by David de Gea, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the highest paid player at Man Utd on a salary of £26.5 million.
