Everton transfer news: Ancelotti confirms possible Torun and Bernard departures
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti confirms that Bernard and Cenk Tosun could leave the club in the coming days.
Both players have been heavily linked with transfers away from Goodison Park in recent months.
Bernard has been rumoured to be of interest to Roma and Dubai-based side Al-Nasr. Tosun meanwhile has been linked with a return to Turkey.
Speaking in the aftermath of his side’s 2-0 home defeat against Newcastle, Ancelotti commented on the pair’s future at the club:
“They [Bernard and Tosun] are talking at the moment, and in the next hours or next day they can find a solution to leave.
“We have some days, we are looking but we are not desperate,” said Ancelotti.
Both players have been surplus to requirements at Goodison Park in recent months.
Bernard signed from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 after impressing with the Ukrainian outfit for a number of years. Everton signed the Brazilian on a free transfer.
However he’s failed to settle in the Premier League, and has so far this season only made six appearances, scoring once.
Tosun also joined Everton in 2018, arriving six months prior to Bernard. The striker signed for the club following an impressive spell with Turkish side Beskitas.
Everton paid £27 million for Tosun’s services, but he too failed to adapt to the English game. Tosun has scored a sum total of nine league goals since his signing, and was sent on loan to Crystal Palace in January 2020.
However he failed to make an impact at Selhurst Park, and after suffering a serious knee injury in March 2020, he was returned to Everton.
The Turkey international has scored 18 times in 45 games for his country.
Bernard, meanwhile, has 14 caps for Brazil, with one goal scored. His last appearance for the Selecao came in the humiliating 7-1 loss to Germany in the semi final of the 2014 World Cup.
