‘I don’t need a break’ – Klopp affirms Liverpool commitment

Jurgen Klopp has reaffirmed his commitment to Liverpool amid rumours that he could leave the club.

A combination of difficult results on the field, including a 3-1 loss to Leicester on Saturday, plus the loss of his mother recently led to suggestions that he could be ready to depart. There was even a suggestion the former Borussia Dortmund boss could depart for Bayern Munich.

Klopp, however, has said that he has no intention of leaving the Liverpool post.

“I don’t need a break,” he said. “The last thing I want to do is to talk about private things. Yes, we have had a tough time but we always deal with this as a family 100 per cent.

“And when I come here, I am 53, I’ve worked as a coach for 30 years and I can split off things. I don’t carry things around.

“Of course we are influenced by things, but no one has to worry about me.

“The beard gets more and more grey, I don’t sleep a lot, but I’m full of energy.

“Now we are in this situation I see it as a challenge.”

Klopp was asked about a banner that was hung outside Liverpool’s home of Anfield which reads: “Jurgen Klopp YNWA.”

“The banner is nice,” he said. “I don’t feel that I need special support but it is very nice.”

Liverpool find themselves fourth in the Premier League, 13 points behind leaders Manchester City, who have played a game less. The prospect of Klopp’s side retaining their title is slim, although they are still active in the Champions League.
