West Ham United’s need for a striker has been well documented since Sebastien Haller was sold to Ajax without being replaced in January.

With the fight for Europe so far undeterred by the loss of firepower, David Moyes will hope to finish the season strongly and assess his options in the summer. The latest name to be linked with a move is Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham.

While it would undoubtedly prove an audacious move, the Hammers have rarely been put off by status before. Chelsea star Tammy Abraham tops West Ham's three-man striker shortlist Daily Star·20 hours ago The Daily Star is claiming the England striker is a target, and we are going to take a look at whether it is possible.

Would Chelsea sell Abraham?

Whichever way you look at it, a departure from Stamford Bridge is more likely now that Thomas Tuchel has replaced Frank Lampard in the dugout. Tuchel likes young players and has hit the ground running, but there have already been reports of issues with other Chelsea academy products Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

We have already reported that a lack of trust in Abraham from Tuchel could pave the way for the Blues to move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. While Abraham’s age, 23, makes him a much better prospect for the future than Olivier Giroud, his value would be higher, therefore making him a greater sell.

Could West Ham afford Abraham?

The striker has two years left on his Chelsea contract, meaning he would likely cost a decent amount. The article in the Star suggests that he is on a shortlist of three players alongside Ivan Toney of Brentford and Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah, but there is no suggestion of Chelsea’s willingness to sell.

Given that Abraham is markedly more proven as a Premier League striker than either Toney or Nketiah, this deal doesn’t look as though it’ll be the easiest to strike in the summer, regardless of whether West Ham reach Europe.
