Nuno Espirito Santo departs Wolves as speculation linking him to Tottenham grows
Wolves have confirmed that manager Nuno Espirito Santo will leave the club on Sunday, as speculation linking him to Tottenham Hotspur continues to grow.
In four years at the English club, Santo got Wolves promoted to the Premier League and took them to their highest ever finish in the English top-flight, as well as qualification for the Europa League.
Wolves went as far as the quarter-finals of that competition but have since slumped back into mid-table in the Premier League since then. With this season’s campaign likely to see the club finish twelfth.

As such, Santo has decided to draw a line under his time at the club and begin looking for a new challenge in his career.
“Firstly, I want to thank the supporters, who have all played such an important part in helping us reach new heights for Wolves, and the people of the city, who embraced us and made us feel at home,” said the manager in a statement on the club website.
“I, of course, want to thank all of the staff at Wolves, for their support and total commitment, every single day.
“Most importantly, I want to thank each-and-every player that we’ve worked with since the day we started, for their loyalty, their dedication, hard work and talent. They are the ones who have made this amazing journey possible for us.
“Sunday will be a very emotional day, but I am so happy that the fans will be back in Molineux and we can share one last special moment together, as one pack.”
Could Santo make the move to Tottenham this summer?
While many were surprised to hear that Santo was leaving Wolves this summer, it did fall in line with reports in England linking the manager with a move to Tottenham.
Following the sacking of Jose Mourinho earlier in the year, Santo has been one of a number of managers that have been consistently linked with a move to the London club this summer.
However, it remains to be seen whether Santo has decided to leave Wolves with another job already planned or if he’s simply decided to call an end to his time at the Molineux Stadium.
