Ronaldo comments on Juventus future amid transfer speculation
Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken out on rumours linking him with a summer move away from Juventus.
Ronaldo’s hefty salary combined with the delicate financial position of the Turin club has led to speculation that he could depart in the weeks ahead.
He was unable to inspire Juventus to a 10th successive Serie A title this season, despite contributing 33 goals and 29 assists. Indeed, he finished the campaign as the Italian top flight’s leading scorer.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on another league title, Ronaldo says that his future is not cause for any sleepless nights.
“I’ve been playing at the top level for 18 years, so it doesn’t bother me anymore,” Ronaldo told the press regarding his future.
“If I was 18 or 19, maybe it would prevent me from sleeping, but now, at 36 years old…
“Whatever happens will be good, whether I stay or not, but that’s not important right now.”
Who could Ronaldo sign for?
Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with a move for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Ronaldo began his career at Man Utd and established his legend at Real Madrid, where he is the all-time leading scorer.
Of these clubs, however, the Red Devils appear the likelier to re-sign the Portuguese superstar. Real Madrid are struggling financially and footing his wages will be testing. Man Utd are also thought to be in the market for another centre forward, despite Edinson Cavani renewing his contract recently.
Meanwhile, PSG are a wildcard option, with Ronaldo lined up as a possible arrival should Kylian Mbappe push to depart in the club in the weeks ahead.
Ronaldo, who has a year to run on his Juventus contract, will be in action for Portugal against Hungary in Euro 2020 on Tuesday.
