Revealed: Sancho’s agent set for bumper pay day after €85m Man Utd move
Jadon Sancho’s €85 million (£73m) move to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund is set to be one of the biggest transfer moves of the summer.
After a deal failed last summer because Man Utd were unwilling to meet Dortmund’s asking price for the England international attacker, the Old Trafford side have returned to capture him for significantly less than they were asked to pay 12 months ago.
Nevertheless, the fee is still a large one in a market that is still dominated by the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic, making it difficult for many of the game’s biggest clubs to make signings.
The upshot is that Sancho’s agent, Emeka Obasi of Elite Project Group, is set for a bumper pay day.
According to a study from OLBG, Obasi, has his commission set to 10.09% of the deal, which is an average level, despite that being above the likes of Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola.
What this means is that Obasi will recoup slightly over €9.25m of the transfer fee. In addition, he is also likely to receive a percentage of Sancho’s Man Utd contract.
Who else does Emeka Obasi represent?
Beyond Sancho, Obasi represents some of the Premier League’s top young talents.
He has a clutch of Arsenal’s brightest academy graduates on his books, with Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Folarin Balogun among his clients. Furthermore, he is also the representative of Alex Iwobi, who has since moved to Everton.
Obasi is a Nigerian, so it should come as little surprise that he has a strong clutch of players from the African nation in his corner. He represents many British-Nigerian players, such as Saka and Iwobi, but also promising Lorient attacker Terem Moffi, who is one of the few players he acts for outside of England.
Sancho, though, is the crown jewel in Elite Project Group’s roster and that has only been confirmed by the move to Man Utd from Dortmund.
