Carlo Ancelotti, the new Real Madrid coach, has been branded a liar by Joshua King, who played under him at Everton.

King signed for the Toffees from Bournemouth on transfer deadline day and spent just five months with the Goodison Park side before being released at the end of his brief contract.

Now a free agent, the Norway international feels that Ancelotti lied to him in a bid to get him to sign for the club.

Asked by Dagbladet if he “felt he was lied to” by Ancelotti, he replied: “Yes I do.

“That’s how the football world is. This is how it is when you get to the top of the game.

“But yes, he lied to me. But there are not many honest people in football. I had no relationship with Ancelotti.”

'I don't regret Everton move' - King

King, who played 11 times and earned only 137 minutes of football for Everton in the Premier League without getting a single start, says that Ancelotti’s words were one of the key reasons that he signed for the team in the first place.

“It was about the size of the club, the coach and the signals I got,” he said.

“I don’t regret going to Everton. I didn’t get a chance – not a single start. Had I got a start and not performed, I would have understood it.

“I had another offer that gave me much more security, but I was told that I would get to play and that I would get a chance at Everton. But that didn’t happen so now I feel that was not the intention.”

Don’t trust coaches who promise you things and say you will get the chance, that you will start.
- Joshua King

King added: “Don’t trust coaches who promise you things and say you will get the chance, that you will start.

“I went and talked to Ancelotti, but that we talked about in that room stays in that room.”

King has been linked with Aston Villa and Real Betis, while Ancelotti has left Everton to take charge of Real Madrid.
