Ronaldo’s future at the club has been shrouded in doubt for several months as his contract expires next year.

Will Ronaldo stay at Juventus?

The 36-year-old was unhappy with Juventus’ performances last season as the club only just sneaked into the top four on the final day, while they were eliminated from the Champions League in the last 16.

HOW MUCH IS CRISTIANO RONALDO'S PRICE TAG?

Furthermore, it is understood that Juventus were open to selling Ronaldo in order to lower their wage bill. Cristiano costs the club in the region of €60 million in gross wages.

Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG were the three main clubs linked with making a move for Ronaldo this summer.

However, all three parties made it clear that they couldn’t get close to matching Ronaldo’s current salary.

As a result, Ronaldo has no other suitors and has informed Juventus that he will be staying at the club for the 2021-22 season.

Ronaldo wants new contract

Gazzetta also reports that Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is pushing for Juve to extend the attacker’s contract by an extra year, although the Italian giants are not willing to open negotiations right now.

Ronaldo is expected to begin pre-season with Juventus on July 25 as he joins the squad later than those who didn’t play at Euro 2020.

Cristiano was top-scorer at the Euros with five goals, despite Portugal being eliminated in the last 16 by Belgium.

The veteran was also Serie A top-scorer last season as he bagged 29 goals for Juventus, five more than the next best marksman in Romelu Lukaku of Inter.

Ronaldo has scored 101 goals in 133 games since joining Juventus from Real Madrid in 2018, winning two Scudetti, one Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups.
