Over Christmas and New Year, teams in the Premier League are usually going through one of their busiest periods.
Although that remains the case in 2021/22, the period has been fractured by a huge number of match postponements due to various Covid outbreaks.
The latest fixture to be called off is Everton versus Newcastle which was set to take place on Thursday evening.
At the time of writing, all of the fixtures scheduled for after New Year will go ahead, with the pick of the bunch on January 1 being a clash between Arsenal and Manchester City.
The next day on January 2, there is a huge match between Chelsea and Liverpool.
The last game of 2021 will see Manchester United face Burnley at Old Trafford.
The Premier League fixtures are always eagerly anticipated, with live football on TV typically prominent in broadcasters’ schedules given the high value of those rights.

Who holds Premier League broadcast rights for 2021/22?
There are three rights holders in the United Kingdom for live football on TV - Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon Prime Video.
Free-to-air highlights are also broadcast on BBC Sport.
In May 2021, there was unanimous agreement between Premier League clubs to sign a three-year renewal extension with the same partners beyond the current season. That means they are now locked in through to the 2024/25 season.
Audio broadcast rights in the UK are held by BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT, who are the licensee for international audio rights.
Television rights in the United States are held by NBC Sports. Matches are shown on a host of TV channels including NBC, CNBC, NBC SN, the NBC App, USA Network, NBC Sports Gold, Universo, Telemundo and Peacock.
