'Allardyce would undoubtedly do a better job at Arsenal that Arteta'
Sam Allardyce would 'undoubtedly' do a better job at Arsenal than Mikel Arteta, according to talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino.
The Premier League is currently on an international break, but prior to that Arsenal suffered their third consecutive defeat at the start of the new campaign, this time losing 5-0 away at Manchester City.
The Gunners started the match at the Etihad in a relatively positive fashion, like against Chelsea in their previous match, but like against Chelsea too, their heads dropped after conceding the opening goal.
Man City scored five on the day, with Ferran Torres grabbing two and Ilkay Gundogan, Gabriel Jesus and Rodri also getting on the scoresheet.
Pep Guardiola's side did receive a helping hand in the first half when Granit Xhaka received a silly red card for a two-footed tackle on Joao Cancelo, but they dominated just as much before the dismissal as after it.
In reality, the scoreline could have been much worse for Arsenal, and Arteta faced major criticism again after another bad result, which followed defeats versus Brentford and Chelsea in the Premier League.
At the moment, they are rock bottom of the league, with zero points recorded, zero goals scored, and nine goals conceded.
Arsenal's next three fixtures in the league are against Norwich, Burnley and Tottenham and any further dropped points, especially against the first two teams, would certainly lead to serious questions about Arteta's position.
What has been said about Arteta?
Cascarino, a former Chelsea forward, believes former West Brom and Everton boss Allardyce would be a better option than Arteta at the moment.
"If you look at what he did to West Brom - I know they went down but he certainly made them far better defensively," he said
"He’d make Arsenal way better.
“I know some Arsenal fans don’t care about that, they want their teams to have flair, but I think Sam would undoubtedly do a better job than Arteta is doing at the moment.”
Allardyce is currently out of work after leaving West Brom at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Englishman was unable to save the club from relegation.
