Fort Lauderdale play in the USL League One and operate as a reserve team for the Inter Miami MLS franchise, which Beckham owns and has former Manchester United star Phil Neville heading up as coach.

It is reported that Beckham should soon be ready for competitive action, although the club has yet to confirm the teenager’s signing.

Instead, Beckham has broken the news via his personal Instagram account with a simple post that reads: “Follow your dreams.”

Furthermore, he has changed his bio to read: “Footballer for @fortlauderale.”

Mum Victoria, a famous personality in her own right, added on the post: "We are so proud of you Romeo x."

Do David Beckham’s children play football?

While Romeo is clearly making waves in the footballing world, it was initially David’s eldest son Brooklyn that there were high hopes for.

The 22-year-old was a right-sided midfielder and followed his father’s career closely, playing for the youth sides of LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain while David was on the books of those two teams. Indeed, he even moved to the Arsenal youth setup after around 18 months out of the game but stopped playing as a 16-year-old when he was released by the Gunners.

Brooklyn has instead done modelling work and has been named as one of Britain’s Best Dressed Men by GQ Magazine.

What football stars’ kids have followed in their footsteps?

Marcus Thuram

Lilian Thuram’s son Marcus is perhaps the best known offspring of a leading footballer to be playing at the top level today. An attacker, he turns out for Borussia Monchengladbach and France.

In a recent Ligue 1 match, meanwhile, Lilian’s other son Khephren and Patrick Kluivert’s son Justin were both on target in a 4-0 win for Nice over Bordeaux.

Zinedine Zidane is another prominent star of the past whose sons are involved in the game. Enzo Zidane plays in Ligue 2 with Rodez, Luca Zidane, who is a goalkeeper, is with La Liga side Rayo Vallecano, and Theo Zidane is with Real Madrid’s second side.
