Liverpool fans have been raving about the performance of Ibrahima Konate during the Reds' comfortable 3-0 victory at home to Crystal Palace.

Last season, Liverpool's title defence was derailed mostly due to their flurry of injuries, particularly in the backline.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all missed the majority of the campaign, which left Jurgen Klopp having to put together a series of untested partnerships in the centre of defence.

Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips were drafted in, while Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were also asked to play in defence a few times.

In the January transfer window, Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies were brought in

Those two players have now left the club, and in the summer Klopp prioritised a quality recruit in defence.

He has apparently got one, too, in Konate, as against Crystal Palace he was fantastic, earning a clean sheet on his Premier League debut.

In total he completed three tackles, one interception, three clearances and blocked two shots.

Konate handled the burly Christian Benteke and eventually Odsonne Edouard with relative ease.
