Man City transfers: Every signing and sale for 2021-22
Pep Guardiola's Manchester City won the Premier League in 2020/21 so there was certainly no major need for a squad overhaul.
Instead, the Spaniard attempted to strengthen a couple of key areas in this squad that could perhaps be improved upon.
One of the major transfer stories involving the club in the summer is actually one that did not happen.
Throughout the transfer window Man City were strongly linked with a move for Tottenham talisman Harry Kane, but after Spurs stayed firm on their valuation which was allegedly in excess of £150 million, City soon stepped away from negotiations, while Kane announced he was staying in North London.
MANCHESTER CITY'S MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS
Though unlikely, they could conduct business in the January transfer window.
What players have Man City signed in 2021-22?
Jack Grealish: £100m - from Aston Villa
Jack Grealish may not have had a lot of top flight experience, but he proved in his first two full years in the Premier League that he is a star in the making.
Despite missing around three months due to injury last season, he still recorded the fourth-highest amount of assists in the division.
His talent on the ball is there for all to see, and Guardiola believed Grealish would give something different to his already stellar frontline.
Man City often face teams playing in a low block, and the England international may well eventually prove key in unlocking those defences.
Kayky: £9m - from Fluminense
At just 18, and having only played 21 games for Fluminense’s senior team in their state championship this year, it’s hard to tell just how good Kayky is, but the early signs are extremely promising.
Man City have clearly seen enough to warrant the £9m purchase from the Brazilian outfit.
He has a burgeoning reputation, so it'll be interesting to see when he sees first team action at the Etihad.
Scott Carson: FREE - from Derby
Scott Carson has been on loan at City as their third-choice goalkeeper for the past two seasons, and they picked him up as a free agent after his Derby contract expired.
What players have Man City sold in 2021-22?
Ferran Torres: £60m - to Barcelona
Angelino: £16.2m - to RB Leipzig
Jack Harrison: £11.5m - to Leeds
Lukas Nmecha: £7.2m - to Wolfsburg
Sergio Aguero: FREE - to Barcelona
Eric Garcia: FREE - to Barcelona
Barcelona, despite their financial struggled, managed to put together a deal to sign Ferran Torres from City, despite the Spaniard missing much of the season due to injury.
After finding first team opportunities hard to come by, Angelino was loaned to RB Leipzig for the 2020/21 season and impressed enough that the Bundesliga outfit made the deal permanent ahead of the summer.
A similar situation involved Jack Harrison, as he joined Leeds on a permanent basis.
It was the end of an era in the centre-forward position as Sergio Aguero left Man City after a decade to join Barcelona on a free transfer. The Argentine had struggled with injuries in his final two seasons with the club.
Eric Garcia, a former Barcelona youth player, joined him at Camp Nou.
