The Red Devils incredibly failed to qualify from the group stages last season, crashing out despite a memorable victory over Paris Saint-Germain in matchday one.

This time around, they have are placed in another tricky group, with exciting Serie A side Atalanta and the Villarreal side that stopped them from winning the Europa League. Group F is rounded off by Young Boys, with Man Utd heavily fancied to take maximum points against the Swiss side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are boosted by the additions of summer arrivals Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Ronaldo, all of whom are in the squad.

While Man Utd fans may be taken aback by the absence of Mason Greenwood from this list of players, the in-form striker can be included on the ‘B’ list as he is a homegrown player under the age of 21.

However, Amad, who could face former club Atalanta, is involved in the squad, despite a thigh injury that was sufficient to stop him from moving to Feyenoord on loan.

Notable omissions from the squad include goalkeeper Lee Grant and experienced centre-back Phil Jones.
