Tchouameni’s brilliant display justifies Chelsea, Liverpool and Juve interest
Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni stole the show on Sunday as his side dismantled Bordeaux 3-0 at home, giving exactly the type of display that has seen him linked with Chelsea, Liverpool and Juventus.
Though typically deployed as a defensively minded player, Tchouameni opened the scoring for Niko Kovac’s side and would later hit the bar during the game.
It was a critically acclaimed showing for a side that is gaining in confidence and slowly climbing the Ligue 1 table after a slow start to the campaign.
Tchouameni’s season to date
While Monaco’s performances may have been irregular, Tchouameni has been a tock for them throughout this season.
The 21-year-old has 15 appearances already this season and two goals to his name. Aside from the opener against Bordeaux – a fine finish after an Aleksandr Golovin free kick – he also struck against Sparta Prague in a Champions League qualifier.

Meanwhile, he was handed the captaincy of the club for the first time in a 1-0 Europa League win over Sturm Graz.
Impressively, he has played all 15 of Monaco’s competitive matches this term.
His performance against Bordeaux
Sunday’s performance against Bordeaux was a particular highlight, with critics hailing his display.
Nice Matin reports: “He made Benoit Costil work with a fine angled shot before making the domination of his team count with a brilliant finish. It was a goal not celebrated out of respect for his former club.
“The midfielder, again monstrous in his recuperation of the ball and in driving forward, even came close to a double but his shot shook the bar. He played at all times and did not miss anything.
“His display was a gift from heaven for Kovac but also for Didier Deschamps.”
Nice Matin rated his performance at 8/10 – and so too did L’Equipe as he was named in the team of the week.
“The France international was in great form and at full confidence,” the sports paper reported. “He was not content to record great work in the midfield (8 balls won, 4 interceptions), he also got forward and shot a lot (6 times), notably in the first half, which allowed him to score his first Ligue 1 goal of the season. In the second, he shot against the bar before being at the origin of the second goal.”
Tchouameni, valued by Monaco at around €40m according to reports, is looking an increasingly attractive prospect for Chelsea, Liverpool and Juventus.
