Without a doubt, Mohamed Salah was the man of the moment on Saturday, with the Egyptian putting in another excellent performance as Liverpool thrashed Watford 5-0 away from home. His agent Ramy Abbas Issa was in attendance at Vicarage Road, having flown in from his base in Dubai.

After the match, the pair went for dinner at London sushi restaurant The Araki, with both the agent and the player sharing photos on their Instagram stories.

One of the main talking points was surely the contract negotiations that are ongoing between the forward’s representative and Liverpool, with Salah’s current deal set to expire in 2023.

There have been reports that the 29-year-old wants to more than double his current wages, increasing his weekly pay packet from £200,000 to £500,000. While the Liverpool Echo have reported that Salah isn’t asking for that much, the forward is still in line for a significant pay rise as he shows no signs of slowing down. So far in 2021/22, Salah has 10 goals and four assists from 10 outings for Liverpool.

Klopp labels Salah ‘the best in the world’

Those in charge at Anfield know how important Salah is to the team and that includes coach Jurgen Klopp, who lavished praise on the forward after the victory at Watford. The German compared Salah to the sport’s other top performers and insisted that the man in red is currently playing at a higher level.

“For me he is the best,” Klopp told BT Sport after Saturday’s win. “I see him every day. That maybe makes it easier for me, but there’s [Robert] Lewandowski out there, [Cristiano] Ronaldo still scoring like crazy and [Lionel] Messi still scoring on a world-class level. But at this moment he is for sure on top of that list.”

That praise from the coach will help Ramy Abbas Issa make his case as contract negotiations with the club continue. The two parties are still believed to be some way from an agreement, but there is still optimism that a deal can be done.
