Chelsea may like to think their dramatic saga with Romelu Lukaku is now behind them but it remains to be seen whether that really is the case.

Ever since the Belgium international confirmed to Sky Italia that he regretted his move to the Stamford Bridge side, speculation has surrounded Lukaku’s future and an apology video on Twitter isn’t going to neatly draw an end to the matter.

However, rather than stumble on with a wantaway striker, Thomas Tuchel & Co. could use the situation to their advantage and turn Lukaku’s demands to leave the club into an opportunity to sign another Premier League striker.

Indeed, now may be the perfect time for Chelsea to propose a swap deal with Tottenham Hotspur for their own moody striker, Harry Kane, in this January transfer window.

Lukaku wants to move to Tottenham

While the club may have gone to great lengths to calm down the drama surrounding Lukaku, following his recent outburst, it still remains the case that the striker stated that he wanted to leave Chelsea.

According to Italian journalist Giovanni Bia, not only does the Belgium international want to leave Chelsea but he’s also determined to reunite with former Inter manager Antonio Conte at Tottenham.

A move to Spurs would not only allow Lukaku to leave Stamford Bridge, but would also allow him to stay in London and move to a club that has a manager that can play him properly and get the best out of his abilities.

Kane is exactly what Chelsea need

Chelsea may not be all that keen on losing their star striker but they could certainly soften the blow by replacing him with a striker of equal quality and one that would perhaps be a better fit for Tuchel’s side.

Kane is by no means firing on all cylinders at the moment, but only a fool would rule out a return to form for the Spurs talisman. And the England international’s style of playing as a false No.9 would certainly slot straight into Tuchel’s current tactics at Chelsea.

While Kane may have given up any hope of moving to Manchester City this season, a trip across the English capital to Chelsea would allow him to finally complete his dream of playing for a club that is challenging for major trophies. And if Lukaku were to move the opposite way, it could end up suiting all parties.
