We’re quickly approaching the end of the January transfer window and Manchester United have yet to make a single signing.

Despite countless transfer stories to the contrary, the Old Trafford side have kept their powder dry and have yet to make a serious move for any new players.

However, Ralf Rangnick’s side are far from out of the woods yet and if a late deal can be made there are a number of options that could significantly improve the Old Trafford team in the second half of the season.

Declan Rice

Declan Rice had been linked with a £90 million move to Manchester United, or Chelsea, in last summer's transfer window.

Now, West Ham's asking price will have risen even further due to the Englishman's stellar 2021/22 campaign thus far.

But, signing Rice for such a remarkable fee would still prove to be excellent business given his age. Especially if a deal can be done in time before the window comes to an end.

Denis Zakaria

If Man Utd are looking for a much cheaper option than Rice then they could certainly turn their attention towards Denis Zakaria.

The Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder is set to leave the club at the end of the season, but could be signed in January for a considerably smaller fee than quoted in previous years.

As such, Zakaria may be just as useful a signing as Rice, but far cheaper for the Old Trafford side.

Karim Adeyemi

If the Red Devils are too late to convince Haaland to make the move to Manchester then they could instead turn their attention to Red Bull Salzburg forward Karim Adeyemi.

Since leaving Bayern Munich’s youth academy as a teenager, Adeyemi has developed into a bright prospect and is now top of the shopping list for a number of elite European sides including Dortmund and PSG.

But, rather than wait a few years and spend up to £100 million signing him from

say Dortmund, like Bellingham, Man Utd should use Rangnick’s insight and contacts to snap up the young striker now and embed him within the club’s first team.

Amadou Haidara

Another player that could be of huge use to Man Utd is young RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara.

Rangnick has certainly played his part in the young talent’s career to date, overseeing Haidara’s move to Red Bull Salzburg and then his next step up to the Bundesliga in 2019.

As such, the German tactician will know exactly what Haidara brings to the table and what he could offer a Man Utd midfield that is sorely lacking box-to-box talent.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Yes, he’s been linked with a move to Man Utd for what seems like forever, but this time around a move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic really would make a lot of sense.

The 26-year-old Serie A star is having a tremendous season and in many ways could prove to be the perfect replacement for Paul Pogba.

Should the France international look to leave in the summer, Man Utd would do well to bring in his replacement now, in order to get ahead of the upheaval in the off-season.
