Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo has finally found the club at which he will spend the rest of the season.

Amad made an explosive impression at Old Trafford after joining Man Utd from Atalanta in January 2021. He played eight times for the Red Devils, scoring his first goal for the club in a 1-1 Europa League draw with Milan in March.

He has, however, failed to find much game time in 2021-22. He has played only 68 minutes of football, turning out against Young Boys in the Champions League, but he has often missed out on the matchday squad entirely after sustaining a thigh injury in August.

Indeed, it was this complaint that forced a loan deal with Feyenoord to break down, and that Dutch club were also associated with a new attempt to sign the player this January.

Amad, however, is destined to join Scottish champions Rangers for the rest of the season as they attempt to win their second title in succession.

Giovanni van Bronkhorst’s side suffered a major blow last Friday, when Iannis Hagi injured himself in a challenge with Stirling Albion’s Jordan McGregor in a Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox.

With the Romania star out injured, Rangers have moved quickly to find a replacement and are set to announce Diallo as a marquee capture on loan until the summer.

Previously, Amad Diallo had been associated with a temporary move to Borussia Dortmund, where he might have earned significant game time. Man Utd and BVB have regularly done business in the past, with Jadon Sancho’s move from the Germans to Old Trafford the most recent example of that. However, it seems this move will not happen.

Equally, there was a suggestion that Man Utd legend Wayne Rooney may have taken Diallo at Derby County, but the Championship side’s dire financial status put an end to that move.

Amad, then, is destined for Rangers, where he will hope to regain his form and return to Man Utd with greater hopes of playing in the first team next season.
