Former Milan and Chelsea forward Ruud Gullit believes Manchester City or Liverpool would be far better fits for Erling Haaland than Manchester United.

The Borussia Dortmund striker has caught the attention of just about every major club in Europe this season due to his performances in the Bundesliga.

So far the towering Norway international has managed no less than 23 goals and six assists in 20 games for the club.

As such, Haaland has been linked to a number of clubs around Europe, most notably Real Madrid, Man City and Paris Saint-Germain.

The striker has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford - particularly now that his old manager Ralf Rangnick has joined the club - but Gullit believes the forward would be far better suited making the move to City, Liverpool or even Madrid before accepting a move to the Red Devils.

'I see him in England, but not at Man Utd'

"I see him in England, but I think he won't go to Manchester United. [Manchester] City would be good for him because of Pep Guardiola,” said the former Netherlands international in an interview with BILD.

“But Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool would also be great. What Jürgen has done with this club is incredible.

“You just have to love him and he's always hungry. That suits Haaland. In Spain, only Real [Madrid] is an option. Those are the three clubs that will make the race for Erling."

Could Haaland end up at Man Utd?

While Gullit would seemingly prefer he moves elsewhere, there is still every chance that Haaland could end up at Old Trafford.

Man Utd may not be challenging for major trophies just yet, but they are one of the few clubs that can afford Haaland’s wage demands and a transfer fee that’s likely to be no less than €75 million in the summer.

Couple that with the potential of Rangnick staying on and convincing the forward to come play for him and a move to Old Trafford may be perfectly doable for the young striker next season.
