How much would Real Madrid need to pay to sign Tierney this summer?
Real Madrid have been chasing Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund fame for at least the past 12 months.
However, according to new reports in Italy, Madrid also have big plans to invest in some serious defensive talent too.
According to Calciomercato, the Spanish giants have begun assessing their defensive options and have now turned their attention towards Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney as an upgrade next season.
At the moment, Madrid only have two senior left-backs in Ferland Mendy and Marcelo and the latter is set to depart the club this summer when his contract comes to an end.
The Spanish publication has suggested that Tierney could then step in and provide cover and competition for the left-back role. But how much would the Scotland international cost Madrid this summer?
How much is Kieran Tierney worth?
Since making the move to Arsenal from Celtic for a fee of around €27 million, Tierney has gone from strength to strength with the Premier League side.
Of course, injuries have continued to limit the left-back’s contributions to Mikel Arteta’s side, but few would doubt that he’s been one of the best full-backs in the English top flight over the past two years.
So much so that the Scotland international is now a key player for Arsenal and has a contract to prove it, with his current deal running until 2026. Which, undoubtedly means Madrid would have to pay a lot to sign him.
As things currently stand Tierney is worth €63m and could demand a fee as high as €79m this summer if Madrid are serious about signing him.
