Kell Brook’s victory over Amir Khan wasn’t the only fight to take place at the AO Arena Manchester on Saturday night, as a brawl broke out in the VIP area involving Phil Foden and his family.

A group of men were filmed taunting Foden and his family, with the Manchester City player leaving the situation behind to enter a private room. However, the shouting continued and Foden’s mother Claire Foden came out of the room to respond, pushing one of the men. In response to that, he landed a punch to her face, kicking off a brawl.

The fight was filmed and a video clip was shared on social media, with Foden seen at the back of the brawl, having come back out of the private room once his mother was struck across the face.

A Saturday that went from bad to worse for Foden

It wasn’t an enjoyable Saturday at all for the 21-year-old, with Manchester City having suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Tottenham earlier on Saturday evening when Harry Kane scored a stoppage time winner.

Foden played 90 minutes in that match, before attending the Kell Brook vs Amir Khan fight at the AO Arena Manchester, where Brook stopped his rival in the sixth round in front of a large Manchester crowd.

It’s not clear when the fight in the VIP corridor took place, if it was before, during or after the main event between Brook and Khan. Some reports have claimed that the incident took place later in the night in a nightclub, but it is believed that it was actually at the AO Arena Manchester.

Who is Claire Foden?

This isn’t the first time Phil Foden’s mother has hit the headlines. In May of 2021, Claire Foden was reportedly involved in another brawl outside a house in Stockport.

Claire Foden has always been a Manchester City supporter, whereas the player’s father was a Manchester United fan.
