Barcelona and Real Madrid set to battle it out for Spurs star
Tottenham Hotspur have had a typically up and down season but one player that has oozed consistency has been Sergio Reguilon.
Ever since he joined the London club from Real Madrid in 2020, the young Spaniard has worked hard to nail down the left-back spot as his own.
Under successive managers, Reguilon has been a consistent option for Jose Mourinho and now Antonio Conte and is now Tottenham’s first-choice option on the left flank, regardless of what formation the current manager uses.
However, such form has reportedly brought with it interest from bigger clubs and Spurs may have to content with their 25-year-old defender picking between La Liga’s biggest sides in the summer transfer window.

Barca and Madrid want Reguilon
Indeed, according to sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, both Barcelona and Madrid are seriously considering a move for Reguilon this summer. And despite having a contract with Tottenham until 2025, there’s a good chance one of these Spanish giants may get their way.
Romano reports that Barca have taken a serious interest in the Premier League star due to his success at Spurs, but it also makes sense as to why the Catalan giants would be tempted by the full-back.
Prior to his move to Tottenham, Reguilon proved his worth in the Spanish top-flight with Sevilla and has also been capped by the Spain national team in that time too. As such, the full-back would be a smart signing and a likely improvement over the ageing Jordi Alba and inexperienced Alex Balde.
A value of €30 million has been touted as the asking price for the full-back if Barca do get serious about signing Reguilon, but the Catalan giants may also have to be wary of Madrid swooping in for their former player.
According to Romano, Madrid have a clause in the player’s deal with Spurs which would allow them to re-sign him for €40m. And with Marcelo set to leave the club this summer, the capital side could be tempted to trigger the clause and bring Reguilon in to challenge Ferland Mendy for the first-place spot on the left flank.
